SourceData, an initiative by the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) has been named joint winner of the ALPSP Innovation in Publishing Awards 2017. Openly accessible, SourceData allows biomedical scientists to share figures and their underlying source data in a way that is machine readable so that they can browse, connect and search papers based on the data shown in their figures.
The first implementation of SourceData in a publishing environment is the SmartFigures Lab which 67 Bricks helped EMBO to deliver in partnership with Wiley.
The ALPSP Awards recognise and celebrate the best innovators in scholarly publishing at a time when the industry is changing rapidly.
